What won the race: In a race where his father's car barrel-rolled in a scary frontstretch accident, Dan Smith of Wichita, Kan., won Saturday at 81 Speedway for his first career victory on the National Championship Racing Association. The winner's father Delbert Smith was reported to be OK after his accident while leading with three laps remaining sent pieces of his car flying into the grandstands.
Key notes: Dan Smith is the first first-time NCRA winner since Jimmy Segraves in 2013. ... NCRA has previously sanctioned Super Late Model racing, but this season has blended Crate Late Models into the division. ... The series will visit 81 again on Aug. 1, Aug. 15 and Sept. 5.
