What won the race: Winning a lengthy battle, veteran Mike Knight of Ripley, N.Y., outdueled Greg Oakes of Franklinville, N.Y., for a $3,000 victory in Little Valley Speedway's Freedom Daze Late Model special event. He won in a 2-race-old car.
Quotable: "Greg had a really good car tonight, too. I had to really concentrate and hit my marks," Knight said. "I kept driving in a bit too hard and getting a little assed out. Congrats to him. He had a helluva a run too. He's fun to race with. All these guys are. This is my first win of the year. It's been a bit of a dry spell and struggling a little bit. That's why I'm so excited to be right here talking to you. I'm kind of pumped up.”
