What won the race: Riley Hickman of Ooltewah, Tenn., outdueled Randy Weaver of Crossville, Tenn., to earn a $4,000 payday and his first Southern All Star Series victory of 2015 at Talladega Short Track.
Quotable: “This is a race that I’ve always wanted to win,” Hickman said. “Mike (Head) and his entire family are great people, and this race is a great salute to their late son. This victory truly means a lot.”
Key notes: Hickman has 11 victories on the 2015 season between the Super and Crate Late Model divisions. His last came at Duck River Raceway Park on July 11. ... Runner-up finisher Randy Weaver has a series-leading four SAS victories on the season. ... The Michael Head Jr. Memorial honored the late son of long-time Ellenwood, Ga., racer Mike Head.
