Donald McIntosh celebrates his $3,500 victory at Boyd's Speedway.
What won the race: Donald McIntosh of Dawsonville, Ga., overtook polesitter and track co-owner Dale McDowell of Chickamauga, Ga., on the seventh lap and raced to a $3,500 victory in the Cabin Fever 40 at Boyd's Speedway. McIntosh built leads as large as a half-track margin in beating McDowell to the checkers.
Quotable: "I'm excited for the rest of the year," McIntosh said. "(Years ago) this (race) was actually my first ever race on dirt, the Cabin Fever was, so to be able to get a win (at) it, that's too cool."
Key notes: McIntosh, who drove his own car with support from crew members of the Blount Motorsports team he normally drives for, aggressively worked lapped traffic and wasn't threatened after taking the lead. ... Fifteen of 24 starters completed 40 laps. ... Three cautions slowed the feature, including a waved-off initial start when Ashton Winger stalled on the backstretch. ... A lap-eight yellow appeared for a slowing Cory Hedgecock. ... Michael Page and Tyler Millwood tangled in turn three while battling for third on lap 16, leaving Millwood's cart partially atop Page's machine. Page retired. ... Jason Hiett started the feature in a borrowed car after having mechanical problems in his regular ride. He earned $1,500 for his victory in the Crate Late Model feature.
