Chris Ferguson led every lap Saturday for a victory at Volunteer.
What won the race: Polesitter Chris Ferguson of Mount Holly, N.C., used lapped cars to his advantage and wasn't challenged late in capturing his second victory in as many Saturdays. Ferguson, who earned $10,000 in Ultimate Series action last weekend at Virginia Motor Speedway in Jamaica, Va., lapped all but seven competitors and took the checkers 2.765 seconds ahead of third-starting Brad Neat of Dunnville, Ky., in the 40-lapper.
Key notes: Ferguson's fourth career Carolina Clash victory is his first since the 2011 opener at Carolina Speedway in Gastonia, N.C. ... Two cautions slowed the action at Volunteer. Scott Shirey slammed the inside pit wall on the third lap, and a lap-nine yellow involved Jason Welshan with the car of Mark Douglas also sustaining damage. ... The North Carolina-based tour made its third visit to Volunteer; in 2001, Austin Dillon and Ray Cook grabbed victories. ... The race was a makeup of a May 10 rainout.
On the move: Semi-retired Randle Chupp, piloting Joey Coulter's No. 2C machine, rallied from his 13th starting spot to finish seventh.
Winner's sponsors: Ferguson's family-owned Warrior Chassis machine is powered by a Clements Race Engine and carries sponsorship Great America Beershine, Keith's Handyman Services, Langley Collision Centers, Big A Custom Graphics and CV Products.
Points chase: Dennis Franklin of Gaffney, S.C., moved into the points lead with his sixth-place finish; Brandon Overton of Appling, Ga., the Clash points leader heading into the race, didn't compete.
