What won the race: Kyle May of Pisgah, Ala., earned a career-high $2,500 Saturday at Fort Payne Motor Speedway with a United Crate Racing Alliance victory. May won the 40-lapper over Rusty Ballenger and Forrest Trent.

Quotable: "I didn't wanna see that last caution because my car was better on a long green, and the tires did seal over a little bit before the restart. That had me worried quite a bit," May said. "It's my home track, but there's still some of the best drivers in the region here, and I feel like we done good to be able to run competitive with 'em."

Key notes: Nine cars finished on the lead lap. ... The car of 12-year-old Sam Seawright had an overheating problem while running in the top five and water on his tires sent him sliding off the third turn. … A late yellow with 34 laps completed tightened the field, and there were four cautions during the 40-lapper. ... Chad Green and Ronnie Cooper failed to start the race. Cooper went off turn three in time trials, damaging his entry. Green's car erupted in a plume of smoke during a heat race.
