Jason Covert talks about his victory in Potomac's victory lane.
What won the race: Jason Covert of York Haven, Pa., held off a hard-charging Dale Hollidge of Mechanicsville, Md., to take home a $5,000 triumph in the 50-lap Colonial Clash event at Potomac Speedway. The win marked Covert's first-ever trip to victory lane with the Ultimate Super Late Model Series.
Key notes: A homestretch tangle on the first lap of the feature caused Glenn Elliott to flip over and left Gregg Satterlee's car with significant race-ending damage as well. No injuries were reported. ... Delaware's Amanda Whaley appeared headed to a third-place finish when terminal engine woes forced her off the pace on the last lap, leaving her seventh in final rundown. ... The Ultimate tour has gone six straight races without a repeat winner and has eight different winners in total this season. ... The Ultimate tour now takes a break until a busy, eight-race August kicks off on Aug. 5-6.
On the move: Hollidge started 11th and finished in the runner-up position; seventh-row starters Walker Arthur and Ricky Elliott finished fifth and sixth, respectively.
