Jackie Boggs (4B) kept Devin Moran (99m) in check at Atomic.
What won the race: Polesitter Jackie Boggs of Grayson, Ky., fought off challenges from Devin Moran of Dresden, Ohio, to win a STARS-sanctioned Buckeye Late Model Dirt Week event at Atomic Speedway for the second straight season. Boggs led all the way in earning $3,000.
Quotable: "Our rocker arm or something broke. We're running on seven cylinders right now," Boggs said. "I don't think it really hurt us — it hurt us on the starts, but once we got rolling, it didn't seem to affect the car much."
Key notes: Boggs notched his fifth victory of the month. ... Tyler Carpenter, Buckeye points leader heading into the event, was uninjured but heavily damaged his car when he struck the high-side wall entering turn three in the night's opening heat race. The car's fuel cell and right-tear tire came off. ... Doug Drown slid over the backstretch banking on the first lap and eventually worked back up to seventh in the 30-lapper. ... Several cautions slowed the feature; Joe Buskirk and Rusty Yarger were early retirees after being part of a first-lap pileup in turn three. ... Greggie Oliver and Blake Naylor both spun separately with three laps remaining. ... Atomic also hosts Saturday's Buckeye Dirt Week finale.
On the move: Zack Dohm of Cross Lanes, W.Va., rallied from 23rd to fourth.
Winner's sponsors: Boggs drives a Swartz Race Car sponsored by Central Star Drilling, McCoy Brothers Logging, Impact Race Gear, Reno & Sons Lawn Care and Quest Energy.
Points chase: Fourth-finishing Zack Dohm moved into the Buckeye Week lead with 500 points followed by Doug Drown (485) and Rod Conley (465).
