Kyle Bronson capped the weekend with a $10,000 victory at Bubba Raceway Park.
What won the race: Kyle Bronson of Brandon, Fla., shot into the lead on a lap-90 past leader Max Blair and second-running Mark Whitener after those two made contact. Bronson led the final 10 laps on his way to a $10,000 victory in the NeSmith Chevrolet Performance World Championship, the finale of the three-race Bubba Army Winter Nationals.
Quotable: "I was waiting and waiting and waiting," Bronson said, "and then Max got up there and they started beatin' and bangin' and I just took advantage of it when I could."
Key notes: Bronson crossed the finish line 1.61 seconds ahead of Brandon Sheppard of New Berlin, Ill. ... Blair of Titusville, Pa., took the lead from Whitener of Middleburg, Fla., on lap 72. The pair then waged a lead-swapping battle until the yellow waved 18 laps later. ... After Blair and Whitener made contact exiting turn two, Blair slowed at the end of the frontstretch to draw a caution on lap 91. He retired and finished nine laps down in 17th. ... Sheppard and Jamie Perry of Ringgold, Ga., picked up wins on Thursday and Friday. … Brandon Williams of Crossville, Tenn., won the series opener at Talladega (Ala.) Short Track, but he didn’t make the haul to Florida. ... The race was originally scheduled for Saturday, but rain postponed the event until Sunday afternoon.
On the move: Tyler Clem, 14, of St. Petersburg, Fla., started 20th and finished fourth. Clem cracked the top five on lap 74.
