Casey Roberts picked up the $5,000 paycheck Saturday evening.
What won the race: Casey Roberts of Toccoa, Ga., completed the weekend sweep with the Southern All Star Series at Southern Raceway, leading all 50 laps of Saturday night's feature for a $5,000 victory that he added to Friday's $4,000 score.
Quotable: "I seen (the track surface) getting black there ... so I was trying to get (the car) to work more off the right-front (tire) a little more than the right-rear," Roberts said. "We just had a great weekend here and I just appreciate these guys putting the race on for us."
Key notes: Roberts's 11th career Southern All Star win gave him consecutive flag-to-flag victories. He also led the entire distance of Friday night's 40-lapper, which marked the first SAS event at Southern Raceway since 1990. ... Teenager Tyler Clem — the son of Bubba Raceway Park promoter and radio show host Bubba the Love Sponge Clem — recorded a career-best SAS finish of third. ... Runner-up Tyler Millwood stole the second spot from Clem on a restart. ... Ryan Crane was battling for second when he slipped out of contention on a restart; he ended up ninth. ... Josh Putnam had engine trouble before Saturday's hot laps and scratched.
Winner's sponsors: Roberts' Jim and Ann Cushman-owned Longhorn Chassis is powered by a Custom Race Engine and is sponsored by Cushman Paint & Body, Hoosier Racing Tire, M&S Concrete, Starrette Trucking and VP Racing Fuels.
Points chase: Following his back-to-back wins and a ninth-place finish in the season opener at Cherokee Speedway in Gaffney, S.C., Roberts sits atop the Southern All Star points standings.
