Justin Williams heads to his prestigious victory in Concord, N.C.
What won the race: Polesitter Justin Williams of Concord, Va., won a battle over Thomas Robinson in the final laps at the Dirt Track at Charlotte to collect $2,000 in a Southeastern Crate Association bonus race. Williams led the first 22 circuits before Robinson grabbed command for the 23rd lap, but Williams moved back out front for the final two circuits and drove to victory by 0.623 seconds.
Quotable: “I apologize to (Robinson) because I might’ve gotten into him racing for the win, but that’s great racing,” Williams said. “This is probably the biggest crowd I’ve ever won in front of. This is awesome.”
Key notes: SECA Crate Late Models competed on the undercard for Friday's World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series program won by Logan Schuchart of Hanover, Pa. ... The top 10 qualifiers from hot lap/qualifying were locked in the feature, with remaining drivers running consolation races to secure starting spots. ... Super Late Model standouts Chris Ferguson of Mt. Holly, N.C., and Dennis Franklin of Gaffney, S.C., were among drivers stepping down a class to compete at Charlotte. ...
