Matthew Nance shows off his winning paycheck at Lavonia, Ga.
What won the race: Matthew Nance of Ronda, Ga., won Monday's Charlie Mize Memorial on the Fastrak Tour for Crate Late Models. Nance topped runner-up Brent Dixon and third-place finisher Ron Parker for a $2,000 payday. Nance led all 40 laps for his first Fastrak tour victory.
Quotable: “I was trying to be as patient as I could be with the lapped cars on the final lap of the race because I knew if I wasn’t, I could have thrown it all away,” Nance said. “I kept waiting to see someone alongside of me, but there was no one there. I’ve ran this series for two years, and Fastrak has the best Pro Late Model drivers in the country. This is really special to win one of these races.”
Key notes: The 40-lap race was originally scheduled for Saturday night, but was postponed to Monday because of rain. ... Thirteen drivers completed all 40 laps.
Winner's sponsors: Nance's Longhorn Chassis is sponsored by Heintz Bros. Performance, C&C Farm, Diversified Finishers, Ed's Cafe, Nance Fabrication, DirtWrap and Yadkin Valley Heat & Air.
