Ryan Unzicker (24) overtook Tony Jackson Jr. (56) midway through the feature.
What won the race: Fifth-starting Ryan Unzicker of El Paso, lll., overtook Tony Jackson Jr., with 19 laps remaining and raced to a $3,000 victory co-sanctioned by the Sunoco American Late Model Series and MARS West Series. Jackson ended up getting to the wall a few laps later and polesitter Mike Mataragas ended up second.
Quotable: "I would consider the top (groove) treacherous and the bottom was just on point for me," Unzicker said. "It's just how I like it. The right-rear was out in the black and the left-rear was digging. The car was on point tonight as far as running the bottom. I figured that's where the (best groove) was going to be, so we kind of set up for that."
Key notes: Unzicker earned his third career MARS and seventh career Sunoco American Late Model Series victory. ... Eleven of the 23 starters finished on the lead lap.
On the move: Hometown driver Scott Bull started seventh and finished third; Jeff Roth of Bentonville, Ark., started 19th and finished sixth.
Winner's sponsors: Unzicker's Bob Pierce Race Car has a Pro Power Racing Engine and carries sponsorship from Kingdon Farms, Leman Paint Works, Pro Tire and Automotive and RJR Transportation.
