Dan Angelicchio picked up his second big paycheck on the weekend.
What won the race: Polesitter Dan Angelicchio of Greensburg, Pa., completed his biggest career weekend Saturday at Dog Hollow Speedway with a $6,000 victory in the 60-lap feature that gave him a sweep of the Thunderdog Showdown. Angelicchio, who won Friday's $2,500 race on the final lap, didn't require late-race dramatics this time, racing off the pole position to lead every circuit after outdueling eventual runner-up Kyle Hardy of Stephens City, Va., in the early stages.
Quotable: "The car was phenomenal again. We made one little change from last night and it really made the difference," winner Dan Angelicchio said. "The track, it was tough. You couldn't miss the line or your were out."
Key notes: Dan Stone grabbed second from Hardy before the halfway point but drew a late caution flag and was ninth in the final rundown. ... Several other cautions slowed the feature, including one for Ryan Montgomery, who advanced from 15th to fourth before slowing with a flat tire. ... Trever Feathers moved from 12th to fifth before being stricken by a flat tire, but he rallied to finish fourth. ... Andy Fries and Mason Zeigler combined for some extracurricular activity on the track and were sent to the pits. They were disqualified and put last in the finishing order. ... Angelicchio overtook Devin Friese on the last lap to win Friday's Floyd Kline Klassic.
Winner's sponsors: Angelicchio's Rocket Chassis is sponsored by Brooks Automotive Group, Royal Purple Synthetic Oils, A&A Cycle, the Brake Man, JT Tools, and Laurel Highlands Insurance Group.
