What won the race: Surviving a last-lap slide job from David Payne, fellow Murphy, N.C., driver Shawn Chastain earned a $4,053 victory in the 51-lap Schaeffer Oil Southern Nationals Bonus Series at Tri-County Racetrack. Chastain took the lead from Casey Roberts on the 18th lap and held on for the Tar Heel 50 victory.
