John Waters celebrates Saturday's RUSH-sanctioned win at Lernerville.
What won the race: Outside front-row starter John Waters of Whitesville, N.Y., raced to a $2,000 victory in Saturday's 25-lap RUSH Dirt Late Model Series portion of the ninth annual Steel City Stampede at Lernerville Speedway. He emerged triumphant in the Crate Late Model tour's season finale by 1.892 seconds over fourth-starting Bryce Davis of Hornell, N.Y., the 2017 RUSH Dirt Late Model Series points champion.
Quotable: "These guys (crew) worked hard and pulled out this car," Waters said. "We had to get the new one clipped after hitting the wall last week. This car is just as good. I have to thank my car owner Dale LeBarron. He puts me in this stuff. Not too many guys can wreck a car one week and pull out another car."
Key notes: Waters tallied his third RUSH victory of the season. ... Clinton Hersh won the non-qualifiers' race. ... The Steel City Stampede closes out the season for the RUSH tour. … This is the second RUSH series event at Lernerville this season. … This is the ninth Steel City Stampede.
