Michael Norris sets fast time for before his Red Miley Rumble victory.
What won the race: Grabbing an early lead and never looking back, Michael Norris of Sarver Pa., cruised to his third straight victory in the Red Miley Rumble at Pittsburgh's Pennsylvania Motor Speedway. Miley, who set the fast time and won his heat, topped Alex Ferree Saturday while earning a $3,000 payday, along with a $2,053 bonus.
Key notes: Norris grabbed the lead from the outside pole and led all 35 laps, finishing a comfortable 3.493 seconds ahead of runner up Alex Ferree. … Ten of the 17 starters finished the race, with seven completing all 35 circuits. … It was Norris’s third Red Miley Rumble triumph in as many tries. ... Series points leader Jared Miley qualified third overall but broke a right front shock while leading his heat. Miley started least in the main event and completed just 20 laps before finishing 12th. … Norris earned a $2,053 bonus because he was also in attendance at the June 30 Herb Scott Memorial at PPMS. He is now eligible for a provisional starting position in the 30th annual Pittsburgher 100 in October.
