What won the race: Finishing 2.079 seconds ahead of Craig Parker, third-starting Don Shaw of Ham Lake, Minn., won Saturday’s Southwest Dirt Racing Association season-opener at Central Arizona Speedway. Jim Whisler finished third. Shaw earned $700.
Key notes: Shaw, who has a home in Arizona, earned his 10th career SWDRA victory, moving him into a tie for seventh on the tour’s all-time win list. … He last won on Nov. 24, 2018 at Canyon Speedway Park in Peoria, Ariz. … It was his second series win at Central Arizona. … Seven of the 15 starters completed all 25 laps. … It was the first of four visits the series will make to Central Arizona this season.
