Jason Covert won Thursday's Mark Williams Memorial at Georgetown.
What won the race: Sixth-starting Jason Covert of York Haven, Pa., went from fourth to first on a lap-three restart and cruised the final 23 laps of the Mark "Coot" Williams Memorial at Georgetown Speedway. Early leader and polesitter Austin Hubbard finished 5.269 seconds behind as the runner-up in the $3,026-to-win unsanctioned Super Late Model event.
Quotable: “The track was phenomenal in the feature,” Covert said. “I know early it has to be a little wet to where it races good in the feature. There’s a group (of drivers) up there that’s really good. I just happen to hit it right. Next time someone else will hit it right.”
Key notes: Covert, who dedicated the victory to his late friend Glenny, won for the first time in Delaware. ... A special-event only track, Georgetown also hosts Super Late Models on June 28, Aug. 15 and Nov. 1.
