Jared Miley flashes under the checkered flag to complete his stirring charge from the 20th starting spot to win at Clinton County.
What won the race: Jared Miley of Pittsburgh, Pa., pulled off a dramatic victory in Friday's Ultimate Northeast Super Late Model Series debut at Clinton County Motor Speedway, charging from 20th to grab the lead from Matt Cosner with two laps remaining. Miley survived a green-white-checkered restart that ended the 40-lapper to claim the $3,000 top prize by 0.533 of a second over veteran Jim Yoder.
Key notes: Miley's march to the front saw him crack the top five on lap 18, reach fourth on lap 22, third on lap 27 and second on lap 38 before he overtook near race-long pacesetter Cosner on lap 39. ... The final caution flag that set up the green-white-checkered finish allowed Yoder and his son, Dylan, to slip past Cosner for second- and third-place finishes, respectively. ... Cosner settled for a fourth-place finish after leading for 37 laps; he grabbed the top spot from Coleby Frye on lap two and at the finish spun to the inside of the track with Dylan Yoder after the two made contact at the checkered flag. ... Miley's first Ultimate Northeast victory of 2019 gave him four for his career on the second-year tour, which made its lone stop of the season at the 3/8-mile Clinton County oval.
On the move: Miley advanced 19 positions en route to victory; he was relegated to a starting position deep in the field by the flat right-rear tire he developed while leading his heat race.
