What won the race: Polesitter Cruz Skinner of Oxford, Ala., picked up his first Durrence Layne Chevrolet Series victory of the season, winning Saturday’s weekend finale for the Crate Late Model tour at Cochran Motor Speedway. Skinner finished 0.511 seconds ahead of runner-up Joseph Brown in winning the tour’s Red, White and Blue Salute to America. He earned $2,500.
Quotable: “To be successful in this series, you have to be good in qualifying and you especially have to be good in lapped traffic," Skinner said. "When I got in heavy lapped traffic, it kind of scared me because I knew several cars were all around me trying to get the lead.”
