What won the race: Hometown driver Tommy Kerr overtook race-long leader and polesitter Brandon Kinzer with 10 laps remaining to win the Schaeffer's Oil Fall Nationals opener at Smoky Mountain Speedway. Kerr, who started fourth, earned $4,000 for his 40-lap victory.
Quotable: “I kept trying to hit my marks, and man, when I got into a rhythm on my marks, my car took off, I took off,” Kerr said. “Man, it’s just fun to win a race (despite) not getting to race every weekend. I kind of take time off, and man, it means so much more when you don’t race every weekend."
