What won the race: Turning in a dominant performance at Cherokee Speedway, polesitter Trent Ivey of Union, S.C., cruised to victory in Saturday’s Carolina Clash-sanctioned 35th annual Stick Elliott Memorial. Ivey finished a comfortable 3.587 seconds ahead of Derrick Ramey while winning $4,000. Jeff Smith finished third.third.capturing the $4,000 Stick Elliott Memorial at Cherokee Speedway with the Carolina Clash Super Late Models.
Key notes: Ivey led all 40 circuits. … Seven of the 14 starters completed all 40 laps. … The win was Ivey’s second career Carolina Clash triumph. He previously won May 17 at Carolina Speedway in Gastonia, N.C. … The victory was also Ivey’s second special event win at Cherokee this season. He won a $10,000-to-win Schaeffer’s Southern Nationals Series race there on July 14. … There have now been five different winners in eight Carolina Clash races this season. … The race, which was a make-up from an Aug. 4 rainout after rain hit the track after prelims, honored the former NASCAR driver and National Dirt Late Model Hall of Famer. … The series returns to Cherokee Speedway on Sept. 1 and Nov. 24.
