Don Cloyd captured Monett’s traditional holiday event.
What won the race: Grabbing the lead after starting from the pole, Don Cloyd raced to his first career Malvern Bank Cash Money Super Dirt Series on Sunday at Monett Motor Speedway. Cloyd earned $1,000 for his victory in Monett’s 49th annual 4-State Dirt Track Championship.
Key notes: Brad Looney of Republic, Mo., who has won 12 of 15 MBCM features this season, started ninth and finished third. … Cloyd joins Brandon Hunter of Alma, Ark., and Dustin Mooneyham of Verona, Mo., as the tour’s only other winners. … Mooneyham, who won last year’s series visit to Moett, finished ninth after starting 18th. … The series removed the Sept. 7 event at Midway Speedway in Lebanon, Mo., from the schedule.
