What won the race: Holding off ninth-starting Rusty Schlenk, polesitter Daryn Klein of Fairview Heights, Ill., scored a $5,000 victory in the Late Model portion of Tri-City Speedway's Summit Mod Mania finale.
Key notes: With Schlenk bearing down, Klein had a few tense moments in the final laps, scraping the wall and bouncing off the high-side cushion. ... Klein won his fifth Tri-City feature victory of the season; he also captured Aug. 16's MARS action at the 3/8-mile oval. ... Fourth-place finisher Bobby Pierce of Oakwood, Ill., swept the first two nights of Tri-City’s weekend tripleheader. … Late Models raced on the undercard of the modified special event, with Pierce winning Saturday’s open-wheel feature.
