COLUMBUS, Miss. — Updates from this weekend’s $3,000-to-win Crate Late Model race at Magnolia Motor Speedway on the undercard of the Country Pleasin’ Sausage Magnolia State Cotton Pickin’ 100 (results unofficial):

Main event

Marching forward from the eighth starting position, Spencer Hughes of Meridian, Miss., outran polesitter Monte Skinner of Saraland, Ala., to win Saturday’s 50-lap Crate Late Model feature at Magnolia Motor Speedway. Hughes finished 3.499 seconds ahead of Skinner in winning $3,000.

Jamie Tollison of Koscuisko, Miss., started 12th and finished third, while fourth-starting Jeremy Shaw of Millport, Ala., finished where he started. Justin McRee of Woodstock, Ala., slipped to fifth after starting second.

Saturday’s race was on the undercard of the annual Country Pleasin’ Sausage Magnolia State Cotton Pickin’ 100 for Super Late Models.
