What won the race: Polesitter Michael Page of Douglasville, Ga., pulled away after a trio of restarts between laps 24-26 and led all 40 laps Thursday at Senoia Raceway for a $5,000 DirtonDirt.com Shootout victory. Shane Clanton finished 1.297 seconds back as the runner-up in the spectator-free event followed by Kyle Bronson and Brandon Overton, who ran as high as second before settling for fourth.
Quotable: “I couldn’t ask for a better car,” Page said. “Lapped traffic was kind of getting hairy there and I was just trying to get a car between us. (Donald) McIntosh backed off (for a lap-24 caution) and I don’t know how I didn’t run over him right there because I went to the top.”
Key notes: After Page won the six-lap dash by sliding in front of Shane Clanton in turn four on the last lap, tempers flared in the infield and at one point the Page and Clanton cars were nose-to-nose near the infield scales. The drivers appeared to have an amicable conversation postfeature. ... In the 40-lapper, the worst of three cautions was for a multicar turn-four tangle on lap 26 involving Mason Massey, Clint Smith, Pearson Lee Williams, Booger Brooks and others. ... The first caution on lap 24 came when Donald McIntosh stopped in turn two. (As McIntosh began to slow, he ran the leading Page far up the banking in turn one, allowing second-running Shane Clanton to pull alongside as the yellow appeared; Page was reset as the leader on the restart.). ... Cody King's turn-four spin on lap 26 drew the second yellow. ... ... Riley Hickman piloted David Duplissey's No. D2 and McIntosh his own 007 Chassis (instead of his Blount Motorsports ride). ... Asphalt standout Bubba Pollard, whose grandfather Hence Pollard built Senoia Raceway, won the Crate Late Model feature.
