Billy Moyer takes the checkers at West Liberty.
What won the race: Iowa native and Hall of Famer Billy Moyer led all 30 laps Sunday at West Liberty Raceway for a $5,000 payday with the Lucas Oil Midwest LateModel Racing Association. The polesitter took the checkers 1.4 seconds ahead of Tyler Bruening.
Quotable: "The tires were a real big deal tonight,” Moyer said. “We knew it in the heat race that there were going to be some issues in the main, so we tried to do our tires a little bit different and for sure drive the car real gentle and not spin the tires. The car was real good, so I didn't think I would have any tire troubles and as easy I was being on them, it all just turned out."
Key notes: Moyer notched his 43rd career MLRA victory and first since 2017 in Independence, Iowa. ... Flat tires knocked fast qualifier Chad Holladay, outside front-row starter Brian Birkhofer, Bobby Pierce and Jonathan Brauns from contention, all while running in the top five. ... Capital Race Cars had the top two finishers with Moyer and runner-up Tyler Bruening, who returned for a home-state event after a weekend of action in the Southeast on the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series. ...
