What won the race: Threading the needle with a three-wide pass on a lap-11 restart, Chad Simpson of Mount Vernon, Iowa, earned a $5,000 victory in Friday’s 40-lap makeup of Friday's Dairyland Showdown at Mississippi Thunder, adding a $2,000 victory in a second feature at the third-mile oval.
Quotable: “I screwed up a couple of times (and) I didn't how (close second-running Jimmy Mars) was to me, but I knew he had to be pretty decent because he started 10th and was up to second," Simpson said. "We just had to run the wheels off this thing. It felt like the tire was doing down a little bit on the right rear, or it was shredding one of the two. I know I was fading a little bit there at the end and we just hung on there."
