What won the race: Keeping a charging Tyler Carpenter and Bobby Pierce at bay late in the race, 20th-starting Michael Chilton of Salvisa, Ky., soared to victory in Saturday’s season-ending Fall 50 at Florence Speedway. He took the checkers ahead of Pierce and Carpenter to earn $5,000 for his first career Florence victory.
Key notes: After Bobby Pierce slipped over the cushion to hand the lead to Chilton, Chilton weaved through lapped-traffic late in the 50-lapper to secure the win in the track's season finale. ... Josh Rice scratched from the feature after sustaining a possible concussion in heat action; he was checked out at the hospital. ... Duane Chamberlain's car flipped in his heat race; no injuries were reported.
