What won the race: Jason Covert of York Haven, Pa., made the winning pass coming to the white flag Sunday at rain-plagued Potomac Speedway to earn a $3,800 victory in the inaugural Huey Wilcoxon Memorial. Covert took the checkers ahead of J.T. Spence of Winchester, Va., and Kenny Pettyjohn of Millsboro, Del., who'd won the weekend's two previous Trick Shot Three State Flyers events.

Quotable: "I'm so lucky to drive for such a great team," said Covert. "This win tonight and championship are a direct result of their hard work. I get the easy part driving."

Key notes: Covert has a series-leading 19 career victories. ... He has four victories overall this season at Potomac and clinched the track championship. ...
