What won the race: Blasting ahead of Ross Bailes coming out of turn four on lap 36, sixth-starting Brandon Overton of Evans, Ga., sailed to the $7,000 victory in Saturday night’s Drydene Xtreme DIRTcar Series finale at Modoc Raceway. He took the checkers 0.961 seconds ahead of Bailes for his second series triumph.
Quotable: “What a race, man,” Overton said. “Man, me and Ross (Bailes) race so good together. That’s awesome, especially here, to be able to race side-by-side like that. We’d come off that corner down there (in turn two) hitting the chip. He’s right there, he’s right there. Hat’s off to all my crew that works on this thing.”
Key notes: Bailes, who led laps 26-36, settled with second after overtaking race-long pacesetter Dustin Mitchell on lap 25. … Polesitter Christian Hanger of Winchester, Tenn., slipped to third early in the race and eventually retired on lap 21 with a flat tire. … With his sixth-place finish, Chris Madden of Gray Court, S.C., captured his second straight Drydene Xtreme DIRTcar Series championship. … Sixteen cars completed 40 laps.
