Colton Flinner enjoys his first Sweeney Chevrolet RUSH Dirt Late Model Series victory at PPMS.
What won the race: Inheriting the lead when race-dominating Chad Ruhlman's engine gave up on the final lap, Colton Flinner of Allison Park, Pa., took the checkers for his first Sweeney Chevrolet RUSH touring victory. Daryl Charlier was five seconds back at the finish while Ruhlman never crossed the line, finishing 15th in a 25-car field.
Quotable: "I didn't want to see him blow up, because I wanted to see if I could beat him fair and square, but I'll take the win this way, " said 20-year-old Flinner, who also competed in the night's Super Late Model action. "I have to thank Ron Hall — this is his car. He gave me an opportunity to drive it this weekend. My dad was up all week getting the cars ready to run this weekend."
Key notes: A red flag appeared for points leader Ryan Montgomery's lap-16 crash in the middle of the backstretch. He was assisted into a waiting ambulance; no details about his condition were released. ... Gregg Satterlee won the night's $5,000 Super Late Model event.
