What won the race: Outside front-row starter Willie Milliken of Roanoke Rapids, N.C., raced to a $5,500 Steel Block Bandits Dirt Late Model Challenge victory in Saturday’s Edwards Family Memorial at Lake View Motor Speedway. He finished ahead of Shaun Harrell and Derrick Quade.
Quotable: “This one is special, I wanted this one more than any other," Milliken said. "My wife (Crystal, a member of the Edwards family) works so hard on this race and it was time to bring one of her nice trophies back to our house. The car was flawless, we are really making gains on this Barry Wright chassis and I’m excited about these last two races."
Key notes: The Steel Block Bandits Dirt Late Model Challenge made its first visit to the red-clay high banks of Lake View. ... The event was originally slated to pay $5,000 to the winner, but $500 was added to the winner’s purse thanks to sponsorship from Chad Howery Real Estate Group in New Bern, N.C.
