Michael Norris heads to victory at Lernerville Speedway.
What won the race: Polesitter and hometown driver Michael Norris raced to the $3,000 Zimmer’s United Late Model Northern Series victory in Saturday’s Steel City Stampede at Lernerville Speedway. Leading all 30 laps, Norris finished 1.978 seconds ahead of third-starting Alex Ferree to record his fifth career ULMS triumph.
Key notes: Norris, winning for the fourth time this season at Lernerville, lapped all but seven competitors. ... Finishing fourth and fifth, Tyler Dietz and Logan Zarin notched their first top-five finishes in ULMS competition. ... Jared Miley of Pittsburgh, Pa., who won last year's race, finished sixth after running second in the early laps. ... Runner-up Alex Ferree took second from Miley on the ninth lap and held the position the rest of the 30-lapper. ... Lernerville Speedway hosted the 13th annual Steel City Stampede to close out the Sarver, Pa., oval’s season. … Kyle Hardy of Stephens City, Va., pocketed $2,000 for winning the RUSH-sanctioned Crate Late Model feature.
