What won the race: Sneaking around Ryan Missler in the closing laps, third-starting Josh Rice of Verona, Ky., paced the final three circuits to win Saturday's $10,000 American Late Model Iron-Man Series stop at Mudlick Valley Raceway. Rice secured his first Iron-Man Series win of the season and the 14th of his career, extending his lead on the tour's all-time victories list.
Key notes: Missler, of Bellevue, Ohio, led laps 9-37 before giving way to Rice and settling for second, crossing the checkers 1.008 seconds back. ... Series points leader Rusty Schlenk gained 11 spots and rounded out the podium finishers. ... R.J. Conley led the opening eight laps from the pole before slipping to ninth. ... Sixth-running Justin Cooper retired on lap 11. ... Saturday's weekend finale was slowed by three cautions and lasted 26 minutes, with 11 drivers completing 40 laps and 14 running at the finish. ...
