What won the race: Fifth-starting Ryan Gustin of Marshalltown, Iowa, earned $2,000, besting polesitter Terry Phillips of Springfield, Mo., in a late back-and-forth duel to open I-80 Speedway's two-day Spring Meltdown. Ninth-starting Stormy Scott of Las Cruces, N.M., finished third on a cold night.
Quotable: “I was just trying to be patient there early. It was extremely rough. You gotta finish. You gotta be there at the end and finish. Overall it was a really good night for us,” Gustin said. “Track conditions weren't very good, but it was the same for everybody. I'm sure they'll get it ironed out tomorrow and be good to go.”
