Jason Feger wins his 32nd career Summer Nationals feature.
What won the race: Reversing the previous night's series finish, sixth-starting Jason Feger of Bloomington, Ill., went around Brian Shirley on the 21st of 30 laps Sunday at Sycamore Speedway and raced to a $5,000 DIRTcar Summer Nationals victory. Feger clinched the $10,000 first week points title in taking the checkers 1.338 seconds ahead of Shirley to duplicate his 2024 victory at Sycamore.
Quotable: "Man, the car was really good," Feger said. "That's a case (where) Brian's out leading and doesn't know where I am. The track ended up being really racy. I mean, everybody thought it was bottom dominant, but we was able to get (higher on the track) and move around in the crumbs and it was a really good track, I felt like. Brian probably didn't really know and you know it's a lot different when you chase or when you lead."
Key notes: Jason Feger notched his second series victory of the season and 32nd of his career. ... Feger finished second to Brian Shirley on Saturday at Fairbury (Ill.) Speedway after leading laps 29-37 in the 50-lapper. ... Feger won Wednesday's second round on the circuit at Kankakee County Speedway in Kankakee, Ill. ... Runner-up Brian Shirley won three straight series features at Sycamore from 2021-23. ... The lone caution in Sycamore's feature appeared on the fourth lap when fast qualifier Drake Troutman slowed shortly after it appeared he got too high in turns one and two; he retired. ... Super Late Model rookie Matthew Larson made his first Summer Nationals feature.
