Walker Arthur captured a $2,000 RUSH victory.
What won the race: Walker Arthur of Forest, Va., outdueled Max Blair of Centerville, Pa., in a back-and-forth late-race battle to score a $2,000 victory in Friday night's 30-lap RUSH Dirt Late Model Series feature at Potomac Speedway. Arthur's first-ever triumph at the 3/8-mile came by less than a car length over Blair.
Quotable: "There were a few times I didn't think I'd be able to catch Max," said Arthur, who credited timely cautions and double-file re-starts with giving him the opportunity to unseat Blair for the lead. "Those double-file starts really seemed to help because I could get alongside him and try to break his rhythm a little, and we were able to beat him at the line."
Key notes: After starting fourth, Arthur overtook race-long pacesetter Blair for the lead on lap 14. The two drivers spent the remainder of the distance racing together for the top prize. ... Rick Singleton, who won the 2014 RUSH tour event at Potomac, settled for a fifth-place finish. ... The RUSH Mid-Atlantic States Classic Weekend moves on to Winchester (Va.) Speedway on Saturday night.
On the move: Jason Knowles of Hornell, N.Y., advanced from the 15th starting spot to finish third.
Winner's sponsors: Arthur's MasterSbilt No. 87 machine is sponsored by Cecil B. Arthur Beef Farms, All About Wraps, Walnut Ridge Kennels and Goode Country Store.
